Throughout last month, the RSS team has been working on comissioning work on the 1002 for it to be ready for passenger service. Pictured above is 1002 stopped during one of a series of passenger service track tests, where it successufly powered a full passenger train cosist with its Tier 4 Head end power unit, and reached speeds of over 80MPH with its remanufactured engine. During the testing the locomotive also established communications with commuter rail track signalling infrastructure ensuring it stayed within the track speed limits.
As RSTX 1002 finishes up its comissioning for service, its sister Locomotives RSTX 1003 and 1005 are being prepped for shipping after completing their intial testing.
